Drawing a Line — Table Method

Graph linear relations on the Cartesian plane; solve linear equations and one-variable inequalities using graphical and algebraic techniques; verify solutions by substitution.

Worked example

e.g. 2y=6x+42y = 6x + 4
  1. Write the equation in the form y=mx+cy = mx + cy=3x+2y = 3x + 2
  2. Choose 3 values for xxx=2, 0, 2x = -2,\ 0,\ 2
  3. Calculate the yy valuesy=4, 2, 8y = -4,\ 2,\ 8
  4. Plot the three points and rule a line through them(2;4), (0;2), (2;8)(-2;-4),\ (0;2),\ (2;8)
